TIPS FOR THE CLASS OF 2017

If any old Blurglings out there have any Chemistry or Physics tips for the class of 2017 - here is the place to post them.

What matters, how to think, what to write, what things to do  / learn... (heading into the Trials and then HSC)

Your wisdom is welcome

  1. 'old blurglings' - thanks for the special mention! It's so hard to think back that far but I think the most important thing is to trust that (unlike my experience with lots of other science teachers) in Dr Burg's class students really will learn everything they need to know to get great marks. There's a lot of content to get through and it's easy to get bogged down so it's just about trying to stay on top of notes from class, and seeking Dr Burg's help as soon things start getting hazy - talking through the concepts and doing examples make it so much easier! And use your peers!
Ps. great seeing you yesterday Dr Burg!!

  3. Golden Books!
My absolute top tip is to use the booklets that you're given by Dr Burg. It has everything you need to know and just as importantly how to express it in an exam for full marks
Your notes are the best notes!
    MAKE NOTES USING THE TEMPLATES!!
They can be long and tedious but they are the most thorough notes and check that you know and have covered everything
    Taste the
    rainbow!
Read the feedback on your notes and take it on!! Mine used to always come back in a range of colours but it makes sure that you understand the work and allows for corrections.
If at first you don't succeed submit, submit again!
Submit then edit then submit then edit and so on  until you finally have perfect notes AND hsc answers. As soon as you do them scan and email or hand them in! The sooner you do the sooner the feedback!
    Put them to the test!
Use your notes to help answer practice some hsc questions from each of the topics and subtopics.
    Practise makes perfect!
Writing these out is the best way to practise. Once you're confident enough that you can right an answer and get full without your notes try writing them. Once feedback is received if it's not a full mark answer use your notes to make it a band 6 answer.
    Schoolbox = Goldmine!
Everything that you could possibly need it there for you! Do the practise questions from the past like 10 years , which have already been arranged by topic for you by Dr Burg!
    Just do it .
It's tough doing all this work but you need to stick into it, and just start picking away at it. People are there to help you out.
    Help me to help you.
Teaching people how to do something often makes it stick in your brains and helps the class do better
Check all the pages of an exam!
    I missed a page in trials :(

    Good Luck with it all!!
